AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Labor recently promoted Mary Kozicki LaFontaine to manager of the Southern Regional CareerCenter within the Bureau of Employment Services. The position was recently created.

LaFontaine has 29 years of experience in the private and public sectors and most recently managed the Lewiston CareerCenter. In addition, she teaches at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College, is vice chairwoman of Central Maine Human Resources Association, chairwoman of the College for ME-Androscoggin board of directors, and is a member of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the New Mainers Community Collaboration.

She recently served as an Auburn city councilor for two terms and served one term on the Auburn School Committee. She also recently served on the Auburn Public Library board of trustees.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in adult education from the University of Southern Maine.
