SUMNER — The Regional School Unit 10 board was expected to act on a proposed 2016-17 operating budget Monday night.

The Sun Journal will have full coverage of the meeting Tuesday on sunjournal.com and in the Wednesday edition.

At its April 11 meeting, the board looked at a proposed $38.44 million budget, which is a 4.7 percent increase over this fiscal year’s figure, but Superintendent Craig King said at that time that he was aiming for a 3.5 percent increase.

Public hearings on the board-approved budget are set at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Dirigo High School, and at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School.

Also Monday, the board was expected to act on agreements with the Byron Withdrawal Committee and the Canton, Carthage, Dixfield and Peru Withdrawal Committee.
