1951 – 2016

POLAND — Robert N. Ouellette, 64, a resident of Lewiston Junction Road in Poland, died early Friday morning, April 22 at his home.

He was born in Lewiston on June 5, 1951, a son of Joseph N. and Elizabeth (Miller) Ouellette. Bob was educated in Lewiston schools, graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969 and remained a lifelong resident of this community. He was a military veteran, having served his country in the army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge.

On Aug. 18, 1978, he married the former Karen Reny of Auburn, and together they settled in Poland to raise their family. Bob worked since 1999 as a school bus driver for RSU 16, the Poland, Mechanic Falls and Minot School District. He thoroughly enjoyed his job as a bus driver. He loved the students and they adored him as well. In addition to the daily trips to start and end each school day, he also loved transporting all the school’s sports teams throughout the school year to all of their away games, and he also simply enjoyed watching and following the successes of those teams.

Since the year 2000, he also spent every summer bussing campers to and from Camp Cedar in Casco. Bob enjoyed the company of man’s best friend, his dog, Zeus, and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing, especially time spent fishing with his own Dad. He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband and father who will be greatly missed.

He leaves behind his wife, Karen Ouellette of Poland; his only child, Amy Ouellette of Marlborough, Mass.; and his father, Joseph Ouellette of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth; one sister, Anna; and a brother, Mike.
