AUBURN — Gavin Bates struck out nine batters and scored the winning run in the fourth inning as St. Dom’s squeezed past Lisbon 2-1 in a baseball game Thursday.
The Saints broke open the game in the fourth when Bobby Shelley singled and moved to second on a throwing error. Shelley sccored when Bates singled. Bates came home with the winning run on a suicide squeeze by catcher Justin Keaney.
The Greyhounds got a run in the sixth inning. Lisbon’s Austin Fournier and Nick Lorette each had two hits.
Rangeley 8, Buckfield 7
BUCKFIELD — Matt Beaucage singled home Cole Merrill from second base with the winning run in the bottom of eighth, bringing Buckfield a narrow 8-7 win over Rangeley in a baseball game Thursday.
The Lakers (0-1) tield the game in the seventh when Rick Thompson doubled home two runs in the top half of that inning.
Gerry Gagen, Zack Grover, Ethan Jackson and Sydney Jackson each had two hits for Buckfield.
Softball
Buckfield 22, Rangeley 10
BUCKFIELD — Buckfield took advantage of eight errors and used just six hits to beat Rangeley 22-10 in a softball game Thursday.
The Bucks (4-1) built a 9-0 lead by the second inning. Buckfield catcher Hannah Shields belted a three-run triple and had a double.
Abby Shields got the win at the circle for the Bucks. Brianna Damon also had two hits. Rangeley’s Michaela Shorey had two hits.
Girls’ lacrosse
St. Dom’s 14, Winslow 2
WATERVILLE — Caroline Gastonguay scored five goals and collected four assists, directing St. Dom’s to a 14-2 victory over Winslow in girls’ lacrosse Thursday.
Kristina Cornelio scored two goals and had three assists and Rileigh Stebbins and Elizabeth Perkins each scored three goals. Isabelle Frenette also scored a goal.
