1937 – 2016
JAY — Raymond L. Lane Sr., 78, of Jay, died at his home in Jay on Tuesday, April 26.
Raymond was born May 13, 1937, a son of Wesley and Laura (Savage) Lane Sr. He grew up on a farm in Chesterville and graduated from Wilton Academy in the Class of 1956. He married Judith Ilene Mosher in North Jay on Aug. 1, 1959. Together, they raised their three boys, Ray Jr., Reggie and Randall at their home in North Jay. Raymond worked at G.H. Bass & Co. in Wilton for more than 30 years.
Raymond was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and camping. He had a green thumb, which was reflected by the bountiful crops of his vegetable gardens every year. Raymond was often seen on one of his tractors or sitting outside by the campfire. Judy and Raymond spent many summers camping and making memories as a family. Raymond was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge and was a past master Mason of the Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 156. Raymond particularly enjoyed being in the company of his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith Lane of Jay; children, Raymond L. Lane Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Glenburn, Reginald Lane and his partner, Rosalie Smith, of Jay; siblings, Barbara Crossman and her husband, Gordon, of Virginia, Mabel Cox and her husband, Robert, of Chesterville; sister-in-law, Mavis Lane of Jay; grandchildren, Kimberly, Kristen, Athena, Randi, Amanda and Nicole; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Randall Allen Lane in 1985; and brothers, Harley Lane and Wesley Lane Jr.
