Jennie E. Harrington

1938 – 2016

AUBURN — Jennie E. Harrington, 77, of Auburn passed away Tuesday, April 19, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Canaan, Vt., on July 6, 1938, to parents, Thomas B. and Florence L. (Sweeney) Whiting. Jennie enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and playing cards. She loved going for long car rides to visit friends and family.

In her younger years, Jennie worked with metal as a machinist, and later became a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in New Hampshire, and then a stitcher in many shoe shops, eventually retiring from L.L. Bean. She later went back to work as a professional cleaner and a personal care assistant, caring for many people.

Surviving her are five children, William, David, Debra, Kelly and Gary; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Jennie was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one child.
