Paris Library seeks board members

PARIS — The Paris Public Library’s board of trustees is seeking to fill two vacancies beginning in July.

Any Paris resident 18 or older interested in serving on the board is invited to submit their name to a sitting board member or any of the library’s staff. The board generally meets in the evening on the third Thursday of each month to oversee the library’s operations and determine its policies.

The application deadline is Wednesday, May 18.

Community Clothing Center opening

TURNER – The Community Clothing Center on the green in North Turner will open for the season on May 4.

The center is an outreach program for the community run by the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church. It will be open each Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. until October. Proceeds from the clothing sales help support other outreach programs, including the Turner Food Bank and a heating assistance program.

Buckfield Project Graduation benefit supper

BUCKFIELD — A benefit supper for Buckfield High School Project Graduation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Masonic Hall. 

The menu will include spaghetti, meatballs and sausage with vegetarian options, tossed salad, garlic bread, frosted cake and beverages.

Admission to the meal is by donation.

Touch-a-Truck on May 7

FARMINGTON — The sixth annual Touch-a-Truck event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at Central Maine Community College.

From firetrucks to tractor-trailers, police cars, TV news satellite trucks, ambulances and armored trucks, children and the young at heart will have the opportunity to see, touch, interact and learn about dozens of vehicles.

This free community-wide event, sponsored by the United Way of Androscoggin County and its partners, Central Maine Community College, Advocates For Children and Clover Preschool, is set to be the biggest Touch-a-Truck yet. Last year, 2,800 attended.

There will be a children’s book swap and several children’s activity tables. Event will be held rain or shine. Adult supervision is required and cameras are highly recommended.

First Saturday sale in Wayne

WAYNE — The First Saturday at the Williams House book sale, boutique and breakfast is set from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, at 14 Old Winthrop Road.

Coffee, tea, quiche and scones will be available. Military books have been added to the media collection for sale.
