AUBURN — The Auburn Middle School Drama Club will stage “Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare in honor of the 400th anniversary of his death.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 19, 20 and 21. There will also be a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.

Shipwrecked in Illyria, Viola, played by Alina Laliberte, believes her twin brother Sebastian, played by Jack Howaniec, has drowned in the same wreck. Viola disguises herself as a young man and enters the service of Duke Orsino, played by Aidan Tomlinson Peck, who is in love with the lady Olivia, played by Rebecca Bassett. The Duke instructs the disguised Viola to help him persuade Olivia of his love, which Viola attempts to do.

In classic Shakespearean style, Olivia falls in love with the disguised Viola who, in turn, has fallen in love with the Duke. Meanwhile, Olivia’s uncle Sir Toby Belch, played by Nick Stilphen-Leon, and his disreputable friend, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, played by Ilyas Bashir, and others, hatch a plot to embarrass Olivia’s strait-laced steward Malvolio, played by Jordan Reynolds, by making him think Olivia is in love with him.

Directors are Jennifer Little and Peter Robinson.
