JAY — A 6-year-old girl was injured Monday afternoon when she fell about 15 feet from a second-floor window of an apartment building at 2 Otis St., Police Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said Tuesday morning.
She was evidently either playing around in that area or leaned against the crank-out window that had no screen, he said. She landed on a lawn and Fournier said he did not believe her injuries were life-threatening. The girl was conscious and alert when police and other emergency personnel arrived, he said.
A NorthStar EMS ambulance crew responded and a LifeFlight medical helicopter was also called in, he said.
Jay Fire Rescue Department set up a landing zone for the helicopter on Dow Field, off Franklin Road, also known as Route 133, near the Livermore Falls line.
The girl was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
