WILTON — A mother and two of her three children were driven from their home at 221 More Acres Road in East Dixfield village after a fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, a neighbor said.

Duane Greenleaf, who lives across the road, said he looked out and saw Ashley Rackliffe and her two younger children standing on his front lawn. He checked on them and went into their house to rescue their dog.

Flames were shooting from the barn as firefighters arrived, Greenleaf said.

Mutual aid from Jay, Wilton, Livermore Falls, Farmington, Dixfield, Chesterville and a NorthStar ambulance were at the scene.

Ashley and her husband, Duane, and their three children moved into the house less than a month ago, Greenleaf said. Their third child was at school at the time.

The home is near the Route 2 side of More Acres Road, close to the Post Office.
