As Peggy Rotundo retires this year, I hope that the voters in District 59 will vote for Melissa Stevens on June 14 to represent them.
Just as Rotundo was, I have known Stevens to be a fierce advocate for the people in the city of Lewiston, particularly for the most vulnerable residents.
Like me, Stevens is a survivor of domestic violence. I think there are already enough politicians in Augusta who talk about that issue who have never experienced it. I want more politicians in Augusta with real-life understandings of the tough issues that they legislate on. Stevens knows firsthand what it is to struggle and that knowledge equips her better than most to lead, to make laws and to listen to her constituents.
A vote for Melissa Stevens is a vote for experience, fearlessness and hope.
