Northern Virginia decorator Lauren Liess has been blogging at Pure Style Home for more than seven years, writing about her life, work and the laid-back approach she takes to design. Liess runs an interior design and textiles firm in Great Falls with her husband, David, and her first book, “Habitat: The Field Guide to Decorating,” was published in October.

We asked Liess to choose three splurge-or-save options for items in copper, a hot decorating material at the moment. She selected several accessories that can brighten and add warmth to any home.
Her suggestions, with save or splurge options:
– Old Dutch four-piece 16-ounce copper Moscow mule mug set ($137 for four, kohls.com ); 15-ounce copper Moscow mule mugs ($89 for four, potterybarn.com ).
– Copper round tray ($180, williams-sonoma.com ); Round iron tray ($60, wayfair.com.
– Copper-plated colander ($58 for large, anthropologie.com); Copper footed colander ($10, worldmarket.com ).
