1927 – 2016

LEWISTON — Marie L. Rousseau, 89, of Lewiston died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Ida (Thibodeau) Lavoie and had been a resident of this community since 1940.

She was married to Marcel L. Rousseau on May 14, 1949; and he died on June 1, 2004.

She was employed in the winding department in the local textile industry for 22 years and also employed as a waitress in various local restaurants. Marie was also very proud of having worked at BIW during World War II as a riveter.

Marie was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Caron of Lisbon; one son, Gary Rousseau and his wife, Arlene, of Lewiston; two grandchildren Michelle Lessard and her husband, Rick, of Lisbon, and Amy Rousseau of Lisbon.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by five sisters and seven brothers.
