DIXFIELD — Lisa Keim of Dixfield has announced she is seeking the Republican nomination for state Senate District 18.

The district encompasses most of northern and central Oxford County, plus Livermore and Livermore Falls.

Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap recently declared the nomination vacant after former state Rep. Gary Knight of Livermore Falls dropped out for health reasons.

This election marks Keim’s return to politics after her narrow loss in a State House race in 2012.

The nominating caucus will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Oxford County Republican Committee meeting at the Moses Mason House, 18 Broad St., in Bethel.

Registered Republicans living in District 18 will be allowed to vote for a candidate to put on the November ballot to challenge incumbent Democratic Sen. John Patrick.

A barbecue will be served at 6 p.m. A $10 donation is requested.
