MEXICO — Mexico Public Library has announced upcoming programming.

Summer movie screenings: Free film screenings will focus on summer reading themes through fairy tales. All films begin at 5 p.m. Wednesdays. “The Brothers Grimm” will be shown July 13; “Maleficent” on July 27; “Snow White and the Huntsman” on Aug. 10; and “Oz the Great and Powerful” on Aug. 24. Outside food and drinks are not permitted, but concessions will be sold.

EarthJams: This music program will return at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16. Children can make their own instruments at 10 a.m. to play in the show. Program is in the Calvin Lyons Hall behind the Town Office.

Create Series: Sidewalk art: Sidewalk art will be offered behind the library all day on Wednesday, July 20, as part of the library’s Create Series. Sidewalk chalk and paint will await inspired artists to create their own masterpieces on the pavement. Parking will be available behind the Town Office.

Create Series: Rocket Science: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. Free and open to all ages.

Create Series: Ocean Exploration Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10. Free and open to all ages.

Fairy House workshop: Friday, July 29. Children’s author Liza Gardner Walsh will host a fairy house workshop where children 2 and older can make their own fairy houses together. At noon, children 8 and older will have the opportunity to participate in a fairy tale writing workshop and discover their own writer’s voice. After each workshop, Walsh will sign books.

“Experiment One: Murder in the Lab”: Anne Morin, author of “Experiment One: Murder in the Lab,” will hold a book signing at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. This debut novel is about a skilled scientist, a homicide detective and the importance of biomedical research. Morin currently runs a bed and breakfast in Rumford and teaches at the University of Maine. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Snacks and light refreshments will be served.

Children ages 2 to 12 who are registered for the summer reading program earn the chance to win a pair of tickets to Storyland amusement park in Glen, N.H., for attending summer programs.

Adults and teens earn chances to win prizes donated from local businesses.

The End-of-Summer Party is set for Friday, Aug. 19, where winners will be drawn. At 10 a.m., Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals will perform. Afterward, there will be a short break featuring games and a pizza party.
