LEWISTON — People’s perceptions of beauty will be considered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Lifetree Café, 1919 Lisbon Road.

The program, “True Beauty: Is it Really Only Skin Deep?” will feature a filmed interview with MeLisa Mounsey, a woman who survived an incident that burned over 95 percent of her body.

During the interview, Mounsey recalls the painful event.

“I can still see it in my mind’s eye today,” Mounsey says. “Gasoline dripped off my little finger, the next moment there was a loud whoosh, and I was engulfed in flames.”

Later in the interview, Mounsey explains the challenges she’s faced in learning to accept herself and how the incident has shaped her view of beauty.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting.
