1917 – 2016

AUBURN — Mariette V. Bikulcius, 99, of Montello Heights, Lewiston, and formerly of 18 Orestis Way, Lewiston, died Sunday, July 24, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn.

Born in Lewiston on Feb. 23, 1917, she was the daughter of Ernest and Donalda Thibeault Chaput. Educated in local schools, she married Edward Bikulcius on May 14, 1937. He passed away Oct. 26, 1998.

Over her working life, she was a baker for the Lewiston School Department, a manager at Town Dress in Lewiston, worked in the Yard Goods Department at Peck’s Department Store and did alterations at home. She was a talented and accomplished seamstress and a devoted mother. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, and in her younger years was active in the DAV Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam and husband, David Deschambeault, of South Casco, Karen Bikulcius of Yarmouth, and Linda and husband, Richard Matthews, of Greene; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Henrietta Dascanio and Amy Picard; and two grandchildren, Brent and Mandy Matthews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Montello Heights “Princess Palace” and the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice and the Hospice House for the loving care they gave her.
