“As far as I know, we are still staying open,” Sierra Hackett, the manager on duty at Auburn said Monday.
The Bangor Daily News has reported that Ruby Tuesday restaurants in South Portland, Biddeford and Bangor closed over the weekend.
They are no longer listed on Ruby Tuesday’s website. The site continues to list locations in Auburn, Augusta, Brewer, Presque Isle, Topsham, Waterville and Westbrook.
Ruby Tuesday announced last week that it would close 95 of its 724 restaurants by September.
“The decision to close restaurants is a difficult but necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our organization,” JJ Buettgen, Ruby Tuesday’s chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer said in a statement last week. “Performance at each of these locations, despite the loyalty of valued guests and the efforts of our dedicated employees, was not meeting expectations.”
The statement said employees would be offered positions in nearby restaurants where possible.
Ruby Tuesday officials did not return messages seeking comment as of early Monday evening.
