The position of music teacher at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School remains open.

The board also announced that a drug-sniffing dog will search the Dixfield, Rumford and Buckfield high schools occasionally without notice. The school district and local police departments agreed the searches are needed.

In other matters, Buckfield Junior-Senior High School Principal George Reuter was authorized to conduct a two-day team-building exercise for seventh-graders at Bear Pond in Turner on Sept. 7 to 9. Costs will be paid by the school and the students.

The next board meeting is Sept. 12.
