Library changes to fall hours

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Carrabassett Valley Public Library will move to its fall hours of operation Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Downhill derby racing meeting

WEST PARIS — A public meeting for downhill derby racing will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Town Office.

Organizers are seeking volunteers, ideas and contributors.

Knitting guild to meet

PARIS — Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet for its annual celebration of the charter at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Maurice’s Restaurant.

Reservations are required. Those attending should bring cowls and other items for the Oxford County Fair exhibit to the meeting. The hope is to have a few more items to fill the display area at the Oxford Fair.

Many items were displayed at the Waterford Fair, for which a first-place award was given.

PARIS — The Floyd A. Harlow Jr. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9787 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 58 East Main St.

Lithuanian Heritage Club to meet

RUMFORD — The Lithuanian Heritage Club will meet at noon Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Sam’s Italian Restaurant on Route 2.

The meeting will focus on preparing for the annual Lithuanian Picnic, set for Saturday, Sept. 17.

Pre-School Story Time at Rumford Library

RUMFORD — The Rumford Public Library will resume weekly Pre-School Story Time for youngsters ages 2 to 5 at 10 a.m. Wednesdays in the children’s room beginning Sept. 7.

Story times will not be held during school vacations or in the event of school cancellations.

Children will enjoy stories, songs, activities and a healthy snack. They will make a craft to take home that reflects that week’s theme.

This is an opportunity for parents to have their children meet and interact with other pre-schoolers.

Free flu shot clinic Sept. 7

RANGELEY — Rangeley Family Medicine will hold its free annual influenza shot clinic from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 42 Dallas Hill Road.

The clinic will be in the upper level of the health center. Vaccines will be available while supplies last.

According to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, an annual vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances of getting the flu and spreading it to others.

Donations to the health center will be accepted.

Snowshoe Club cribbage

RUMFORD — Snowshoe Club will resume its Thursday night cribbage games at 6 p.m. Sept. 8, at 227 Waldo St.

Single games are played. Entry fee is $5.
