Portland, Windham and Cheverus finished first, second and third in 2015, and it’s hard to imagine those three teams won’t again claim the top three spots this season.

It will be interesting to see where the other teams finish, particularly which one places fourth and hosts a regional quarterfinal, and which takes seventh and is the only team in the region to sit out the postseason. Each game between Edward Little, Lewiston, Oxford Hills/Buckfield and Bangor will be of utmost importance.

The Red Eddies, Blue Devils and Vikings all return experienced squads, but will that be enough for all three to beat out Rams?

Edward Little (3-6) was claimed the coveted fourth-place slot last year. The Red Eddies are hoping to their speed will allow them to break through and compete with the region’s big three this season.

Lewiston (2-7) also views speed as a team strength and to highlight it has switched to the spread formation to utilize its quick role players.

Oxford Hills/Buckfield (1-7) has a deep senior class that remembers the joy of making the postseason in 2014 and the disappointment of missing out last year. Obviously, the Vikings favor the former.
