Robin Dow Seniors to meet

AUBURN — Robin Dow Senior Citizens met on Sept. 14 for their regular meeting with 35 members present.

Attendance winners were Brian Adams and Bea Brooks; blue tickets, Nancy Roy, Irene Ledoux and Charlotte Dyer; white, Callie Adams, Bruce Macomber and Nancy Duprey; and red, Sally Gagnon, Diane Vincent and Irene Fraser.

The next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. There will be coffee and doughnuts, card playing, games and socializing. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by bingo at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale for the Oct. 26 finger roll luncheon for $5.

New members are always welcome to join the club and take part in activities.

Democratic Committee to meet

LEWISTON — The Lewiston City Democratic Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Lewiston Armory.

Those attending should enter through the “CC” doors to the right.

Whole Family, Whole Health

BIDDEFORD — The YMCA of Southern Maine is inviting community members to try classes and facilities for free from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, during the Whole Family, Whole Health celebration. Attendees at Saturday’s event will receive a complimentary Y Family Pass for use through Friday, Oct. 7.

The event is designed to introduce the community to the Y’s holistic approach to building personal and community wellness.

Pinochle, pitch players welcome

LEWISTON — Pinochle and pitch card games for seniors are played weekly at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

New players are always welcome. Pitch is played at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Pinochle is at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Refresher courses are available in both categories.

The armory is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Players must become a member to participate.

Life Chain in 23rd year

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Life Chain event will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, along both sides of the Longley Bridge in Lewiston-Auburn.

Locals will line the sidewalks to quietly pray for an end to abortion.

Every year hundreds of cities and towns across the United States and Canada minister the Life Chain message into the hearts and minds of their local residents. This will be Lewiston-Auburn’s 23rd annual Life Chain.

Those participating should gather at Great Falls Plaza at 2 p.m. to pick up a poster. The event will be held rain or shine. Chairs may be brought for the elderly or handicapped, and children under close supervision are welcome.
