AUBURN — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on Auburn Hall’s second floor. The workshop is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and the agenda includes reviewing plans to study the city’s agriculture zoning district, a Pownal Road property, leasing the new Great Falls transportation center to Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee and state stormwater standards. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m. and agenda topics include reviews of junkyard permits, General Assistance rules and changes to the city’s general business zoning district.


LEWISTON — Blessing of the Animals, a celebration of Saint Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day, 4:30 p.m., front lawn of Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul, 122 Ash St. Pet owners welcome to bring their pets for prayers; pets sprinkled with holy water.

AUBURN — First night of the 10-week program for the Auburn Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy, 6 p.m., in the Police Department offices in Auburn Hall. This program explains basic police functions and offers insight into how police officers perform their duties. People interested must fill out an online application or call 333-6650, ext. 2070. All attendees will have their background checked by the department.

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on City Hall’s bottom floor. The workshop begins at 6 p.m. and discussion will center on public works projects. The regular business meeting begins at 7 p.m.  and the agenda includes special amusement permit renewals and repealing inactive committees.


AUBURN — School Committee regular meeting 7 p.m., City Council Chamber. Agenda: reports from Superintendent Katy Grondin on enrollment and process of state approval of new Edward Little High School building.


LEWISTON — Historic Preservation Review Board regular meeting, 3 p.m. in the administrative conference room on the bottom floor of City Hall. Agenda topics include what to do about vandalism in the Kennedy Park Bandstand and gazebo.

LEWISTON — Bonus Thursday Art Crawl, including Maine Craft Association’s 2016 Craft Apprenticeship Program gallery showing, L/A Arts, 4 to 7 p.m., special art walk through Lewiston from 7 to 8 p.m.
