AUBURN — Auburn Middle School held a mock election Monday in which students voted for president and congressional representatives, and cast ballots on six referendum questions.
For the office of president, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton won 194-171 against Republican contender Donald Trump.
Democrat Emily Cain beat Bruce Poliquin, R-Maine, 204-199 for the 2nd Congressional District seat. Cain is challenging incumbent Poliquin.
On the issues, students voted:
Question 1 (legalize marijuana): No
Question 2 (raise taxes for education): Yes
Question 3 (gun control): Yes
Question 4 (increase minimum wage): Yes
Question 5 (ranked-choice voting): Yes
Question 6 (transportation bond): Yes
