AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced its November programming for teens.
Homework Help for Teens: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 29. Students may stop by the Teen Space to get help with time management, schedule planning, goal setting and learning to be successful with their homework. A healthy snack is included. Program is for teens in grades seven to 12.
Tweens in the Teen Space: noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 2, 16 and 30. On half-day Wednesdays, tweens are invited to get a head start on homework or simply hang out. Crafts and board games are available upon request. This program is for sixth-graders.
Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Androscoggin Room. Teens ages 12 to 18 can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch this week’s selection of anime, and try their hand at drawing their own characters. Snacks will be provided.
Teens! Friday Movie: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the Androscoggin Room. Teens may come the first Friday of each month to relax and enjoy a movie. This month, the teens have chosen “The Blind Side,” the true story of Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher. This program is for ages 13 to 18, and will include a snack.
Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Friday, Nov. 25, in the Androscoggin Room. Teens are welcome to take a break from studying and stop by for video games and snacks. There is a Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Wii and a small collection of games. Teens may bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. Event is for ages 12 to 18.
Safe Voices: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Teen Space. Whitney Parrish from Safe Voices will talk about relationships and work on projects. The program is for ages 12 to 18.
Teen Snack Chat!: 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 14 and 28, in the Teen Space. Teens can enjoy a healthy snack and engage in conversation about current events. The program is for ages 12 to 18.
Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the conference room.
Cathie Grevatt of the Maine Job Corps will visit to explain how the program works and who is eligible. The program is for teens and new adults. Preregistration is required by calling 207-540-0216.
Teens! DIY Takeover: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Teen Space. Each month a different do-it-yourself project will be featured. This month’s project is a seasonal craft — either cereal box scarecrows or autumn leaf candle holders. Snacks will be provided. Event is for ages 12 to 18.
Teens! Discoveries in STEM: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the Teen Space. Maisy Cyr of 4-H will explore how science, technology and math are used outside the classroom. Attendees may dabble in food science, animal science, simple machinery and technology, or just make some crazy creations. This program is for ages 12 to 18.
SAPARS: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the Teen Space. Hannah Johnson from Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services will discuss and create awareness of teen issues such as healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use/abuse, and internet safety. The program is for teens.
DIY Teens! Media Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the CREATE! Media Lab. Movies, music, graphic arts — if it can be imagined, it can be created in the library’s Media Lab. Attendees can make movie trailers, podcasts and other media that the library will post on its website.
