Coats for Seniors 2016
MAINE — The Maine Association of Area Agencies on Aging announces the kick off of the 2016 Coats for Seniors collection project.
This statewide project collects clean, gently used coats for older adults in need until Nov. 30. For every coat donated, $5 will be donated toward fuel assistance.

Neighborhood Watch meeting Nov. 2
AUBURN — The next Lake Auburn Neighborhood Watch meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the West Auburn Congregational Church.
Tom Poulin, community resource officer, will be the guest speaker.
National Auxiliary president to visit
RUMFORD — Mary E. Davis of Lacey, Washington, national president of the American Legion Auxiliary, will be at a banquet in her honor on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Rumford Post 24, 184 Congress St.
There will be social time at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., and a program will follow.
The menu, which includes appetizers during social hour, is meat lasagna, veggie lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Those who eat gluten-free should send a note when making reservations.
Tickets are $15 per person. Checks are payable to ALA Unit 24 and can be mailed to American Legion, Post 24, attention Tricia Thurston, 184 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276.
Following the program, there will be DJ with karaoke for anyone who would like to socialize.
St. Luke’s taking pie orders
WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is taking orders for the annual church benefit pie sale.
The sale is by pre-order only. Orders must be placed by Sunday, Nov. 20. Pies will be available for pick-up at the church from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 59 High St. in the church kitchen by the parking lot.
Prices are $9 for apple and pumpkin pies; $12 for lemon meringue and berry pies; and $10 for mincemeat (indicate venison or fruit).
Free delivery is available to those who are homebound.

Chester Greenwood Day parade theme
FARMINGTON — Holiday Celebrations around the World is this year’s theme for the 40th annual Chester Greenwood Day parade.
The annual parade, planned by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the downtown.
The parade draws floats built by local businesses, service organizations, school groups, clubs and community members. It’s held rain or shine.
There will also be a gingerbread contest, chili contest, craft fairs, historical open houses, polar bear dip, 5K race, Festival of Trees and more.
Greenwood is best known for his invention of earmuffs, designing his first pair of ear protectors when he was 15 years old.
