A Maine-made version of the Scandinavian hardanger will be featured at this week’s Oasis, as Greg Boardman performs music of Sweden, the Shetland Islands, Scotland and Ireland at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St., Lewiston. Boardman’s eight-string violin-like instrument was made by Morty Hansen of Troy, Maine, and features four sympathetic strings which reverberate as they are set in action by their relative notes and overtones, creating what Boardman refers as “a warm glow.” The free performance is from 12:30-1 p.m. FMI call 344-3106.
