With unabated interest, crowds gathered in front of The Sun building last evening to watch the election bulletin service for the latest word that might decide one of the closest and most exciting Presidential elections within the memory of the younger voters. While bulletins were posted continuously, The Sun’s telephone lines were kept humming and verily the third night after the election seemed like a regular election night. The Auburn Youth Hockey Association will ask the City Council for its support in pursuing the construction of a $300,000 facility to enclose the ice rink at Pettengill Park. “It’s a simple proposal,” commented George Roberge. “We’re just looking to cover the ice rink to enable us to start the season in November, around Veterans Day, and end toward late March.” Currently, the rink is rarely used before December and closes by early March. Roberge said the city’s hockey program has been hindered by the in-ability to make full use of the ice because of the vagaries of weather.
