JAY — Twin sisters were injured Tuesday after the car they were riding in on Route 133 slid on ice and slush, struck several trees and landed on its side, Police Sgt. Russell Adams said.

Dorothy Nelson of the Livermore Falls area and Danielle Nelson of the Mexico-Rumford area, both 29, complained of pain and were taken by NorthStar EMS ambulances to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Adams said.

The car was heading north toward Farmington when the accident occurred.

The accident is under investigation, Adams said. He said he does not know who the driver was because he did not get to talk to the women before they were taken to the hospital.

Dexter Norton, 5, was in a safety seat and was not injured, he said. The child was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where his father was to meet him.

Adams was still gathering information on the crash Tuesday afternoon.

Jay Fire Rescue Department assisted Adams at the scene.
