CHESTERVILLE — Selectmen voted Thursday night to accept the resignation of Selectman Paul Caldwell, even though a formal letter was not received.

Town Clerk Heather Wheeler said she asked Caldwell for a letter of resignation but got no response.

Board of Selectmen Chairman Guy Iverson said Caldwell’s seat will remain vacant until the annual town meeting in March.

Nomination papers for the office will be available in January.

There is one year remaining on Caldwell’s three-year term.
