1935 – 2016

AUBURN — Lorraine L. Ligthart, 81, formerly of Lewiston died Friday, Dec. 2, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was born in Lewiston on Sept. 13, 1935, a daughter of the late Louis and Angelina (Gioiosa) Fournier.

Lorraine was educated in local schools and graduated from what later became Saint Dominic’s High School and went on to graduate from the University of Southern Maine. She spent her early years as a nun, teaching in Catholic schools on Staten Island, N.Y., and in Brookline, Mass. She later married Dr. William “Pim” Kasper Ligthart, who passed away in 1985.

Lorraine loved the ocean and enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Boothbay Harbor sailing with her late husband.

She leaves her brother, Maurice Fournier, and his wife, Barbara; five nieces and nephews, Diane Lacroix Ball, Michael Lacroix, Paul Lacroix, Tina Fournier Russell and Julie Fournier Chasse.

Lorraine was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Lacroix; and a brother, Roger Fournier.
