1928 – 2016

LEWISTON — Elizabeth M. Gilbert, 88, of Bethel passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, Dec. 9.

She was born in Mason on May 1, 1928, the daughter of Guy and Grace Clough Morrill. She married George Gilbert on Dec. 8, 1945. She worked many years at Hanover Dowel Co., EKCO wood products for 15 years and The Bethel Inn and Resort for 19 years.

She is survived by her sister, Alta Smith and her partner, Ronald “Duke” Meserve, of Albany Township; two sons, Randy of Bethel and Ronald and his wife, Karen, of South Paris; five grandchildren, Justin Gilbert and Lisa Giovanni of Bartlett, N. H., Kayce Gilbert of Bethel, Amanda Gilbert and her husband, Carlos Quino, of Chelsea, Mass., Riley Gilbert and her fiance, Shawn Boutilier, of Oxford and Zachary Gilbert of South Paris; six great-grandchildren, Jadyn Lane, Isabella Quino, Brennan Beaulieu, Thomas Quino, Elizabeth Grace Quino and the soon to be Hartley Kaye Boutilier.

She was predeceased by her husband, George, in 2001; and her sisters, Phyllis Bancroft and Mabel Clough.
