CASCO — A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday for the hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a local woman Sunday night.

Jeffrey Eugene Smith of Sebago was arrested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office accompanied by the Office of Probation and Parole at 4:15 p.m. 

Lorna Nugent, 56, of Casco was hit and killed by a vehicle Sunday night on Route 302. 

Smith was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident resulting in death, a Class C crime. He was taken to Cumberland County Jail for processing. The investigation was ongoing.
