I was pleasantly surprised to see some coverage of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team in the Sun Journal on Saturday, Dec. 17. In the past, I have complained about the lack of coverage of the women’s team when they play in the Four Nations Cup (held in Finland in November this year that the U.S. won) as well as the lack of coverage when they play in the world championships.
In April 2017, the Women’s World Hockey Championships will be held in Plymouth, Michigan, so I hope to see continued coverage.
In a related matter, I was disappointed the Sun Journal did not cover the University of New Hampshire versus UMaine women’s hockey game held in Auburn recently. It was a great game that ended up in a tie after sudden death overtime.
Women (and lots of little girls) play hockey, too.
