WATERVILLE — Visiting Rangeley jumped out to a double-digit halftime lead, but the Lakers had to hold on at the end for a 38-37 victory over Temple Academy in a Class D South girls’ basketball clash on Monday.

The Lakers (14-3) led 23-12 at half after outscoring the Bereans 12-3 in the second quarter, but the hosts whittled the lead down by five points each in the third and fourth.

Natasha Haley scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Lakers. Sydney Royce added eight points and 10 more rebounds, while Lauren Eastlack had three points and five assists.

Deleyni Carr paced the Bereans (13-4) with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Kiara Carr and Grace Rossignol chipped in with eight and seven points, respectively.

Buckfield 35, Kents Hill 19

BUCKFIELD — Kali Litchfield led a balanced attack for host Buckfield, which jumped ahead early and pulled away late for a 35-19 victory over Kents Hill in Class C South girls’ basketball action Monday.

Litchfield scored a game-high 11 points for the Bucks (3-15), who had eight different scorers. Kathryn Henderson added eight points.

Daniela Martinez led the Huskies (2-12) with nine points, while Leah Herbin added eight.

Mountain Valley 51, Madison 43

RUMFORD — Host Mountain Valley led by seven after one quarter and played visiting Madison one point better the rest of the way for a 51-43 victory in an MVC girls’ basketball tilt Monday night.

Ashley Russell led the Falcons (15-2) with 19 points. Chelsea Allison chipped in with nine of a trio of 3s and Emily Laubauskas added eight.

Sydney LeBlanc paced the Bulldogs (12-5) with 13 points, one better than Lauren Hay’s 12.

Wells 37, Poland 30

POLAND — Natalie Thurber drained three 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 15 points in visiting Wells’ 37-30 Class B South girls’ basketball victory over Poland on Monday.

Leah Tufts hit a pair of 3s for the Warriors (12-5), for all six of her points, and Megan Schneider added seven points.

Nathalie Theriault led the Knights (11-6) with 11 points. Morgan Brousseau chipped in with 10.

Boys’ Basketball

Rangeley 53, Temple 50

WATERVILLE — Kyle Larochelle starred with a game-high 30 points to lift visiting Rangeley to a nail-biting 53-50 victory over Temple Academy in Class D South boys’ action on Monday.

Larochelle made his mark from the free-throw line, hitting eight foul shots for the Lakers (7-10). Richard Thompson added 10 points.

Bradley Smith and Joe Xu led the Bereans (8-9) with 18 points apiece.

A.R. Gould 76, Buckfield 42

BUCKFIELD — Tyrese Collins and Gage Barton each poured in 22 points to lead A.R. Gould over host Buckfield, 76-42, on Monday.

Issak Aliyow added 15 points for the Bears (14-3).

Ethan Jackson led the Bucks (6-12) with 19 points, while Jacob Kraske added 11.

Unified Basketball

Oxford Hills 34, Poland 31

POLAND — Brandon Robare scored 10 points to help visiting Oxford Hills edge Poland 34-31 on Monday.

Branden Skinner added eight points and Makayla Dunn six for the Vikings (2-1).

Justin Dumas led the Knights (1-1) with 10 points, while Austin Wing and David Ellington scored eight and six, respectively.

Women’s Basketball

CMCC 86, UMaine-Machias 34

AUBURN — Brooke Reynolds scored a game-high 16 points and filled out the rest of the stat sheet to help lead Central Maine Community College to an 86-34 victory over University of Maine-Machias on Monday night.

In addition to her game-best scoring output, Reynolds added seven steals, five rebounds, three assists and a block for the Mustangs (25-1), who finished the regular season undefeated at home. Eraleena Gethers-Hairston added 15 points and nine rebounds.

Alicen Brooks and Amy Carver led the Clippers (7-13) with 10 points apiece.

Men’s Basketball

CMCC 99, UMaine-Machias 94

AUBURN — Cornelius Lawhorn picked up a double-double, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, as host Central Maine Community College held on for a 99-94 victory over University of Maine-Machias in Yankee Small College Conference action on Monday.

The Mustangs (19-8), playing their third game in three days, led 46-39 at the half.

Josh Cote and Sheveran Hardy each added 14 points for CMCC.
