EUSTIS — A Massachusetts man was killed Sunday when the snowmobile he was driving went around a sharp corner on an ITS trail and struck a tree, according to a news release from Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service.
Dennis Picard, 60, of South Chatham was pronounced dead at the scene near Landers Farm Road.
Picard was the last snowmobiler in a group riding on the Interconnected Trail System. The accident occurred just before 3 p.m.
It is the seventh fatal snowmobile crash since Jan. 2.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The accident remained under investigation Monday by the Maine Warden Service.
