AUBURN — Suzanne A. Benner, 58, a resident of Lisbon Falls, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Hospice House in Auburn, after a long and very courageous battle with a lifelong illness.
She was born Aug. 2, 1958, in Lewiston, the daughter of Norman Cloutier and Theresa (Hamel) Cloutier. She loved the outdoors, gardening, sewing and spending time with her friends, family and grandbabies.
She truly lived by the motto “one day at a time” and never let her illness slow her down. She had a deep faith in God and cherished the relationships she developed with her AA “family” many years ago.
Sue is survived by her mother, Theresa Cloutier; her son, Levi Benner and his wife, Nikki; and her three grandchildren, Levi (Jim), Landon and Oliver.
She was predeceased by her father, Norman; and brothers, Michael and Richard.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
