LEWISTON — Joseph Brissette, 89, of Lisbon passed away Thursday, March 2, in a Lewiston nursing facility.
He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 3, 1927, a son of Theodule and Bernadette Deblois Brissette. Educated in the Lewiston schools, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. Joseph lived in Lewiston most of his life and settled in Lisbon in 1963.
He worked in shoe manufacturing and then as a sign fabricator before retiring. Joseph was married to Irene Binnette for 62 years and she predeceased him in 2010. He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and the Auburn Rod and Gun Club, as well as the Left Hand Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a family man who loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joseph has joined his wife to be with the Lord. Besides his wife and siblings who predeceased him, survivors include his son Dan and wife, Anita, of Turner; daughter, Diane Rines, and husband, Pudgy, of Greene; son Paul of Lewiston; son Gary and wife, Debbie, of Lisbon; son Ted and wife, Janice, of Durham; son Bill and wife, Theresa, of Lisbon; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
