AMVETS to host dance
NEW GLOUCESTER — A public dance will take place on Saturday, March 11, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the AMVETS Hall. Live music will be by Steve and the Good Old Boys.

Deep Brain Stimulation Support Group
FREEPORT — The Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Support Group will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Casco Bay YMCA, 14 Old South Freeport Road.
DBS has been available in Maine for over three years. This group is for DBS patients and caregivers as well as for people with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor or dystonia who are interested to learn more about deep-brain stimulation.

Drumming group making a beat
LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. The group will play next on March 12.
All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation.
Society visiting Bates College Planetarium
MINOT — The Tuesday, March 14, meeting of the Minot Historical Society will be a visit to the Bates College Planetarium.
The hostess will be Nikki Hastings.
Those attending will meet at 6 p.m. at the Minot Town Office to carpool to the planetarium.
Green Thumb Gang meeting
LISBON — Lisbon Parks & Recreation Department seeks volunteers for its Green Thumb Gang to maintain the town flower beds.
Those interested in volunteering may attend the Gang’s spring meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the MTM Community Center in Room 10.
Those attending will discuss ideas, possible changes and plan summer flower gardens.
There is no fee to volunteer, but those who commit must care for the flower beds they have been assigned through the season.

IHM Golden Age Club to meet
AUBURN — Immaculate Heart of Mary Golden Age Club will resume meetings beginning March 14 on the second Tuesdays of the month.
Due to the remodeling of the kitchen, meetings will be held at The Village Inn on High Street. Those attending will gather between 11:30 a.m. and noon, and lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m.
The club will install officers and have a brief meeting at 1 p.m.
Reservations are required.
New members and guests are always welcome.

Jam session in Auburn
AUBURN — The Park Avenue Pickers will hold a monthly jam session at 6:15 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.
The next session will be March 14.

Royal River talk at Society
NEW GLOUCESTER — The Royal River, a natural resource of southern Maine that begins its run in New Gloucester, will be the topic for the next meeting of the New Gloucester Historical Society.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road, Route 231, next to the Town Hall.
Alan Stearns, director of the Royal River Trust, will be the speaker.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
