FREEPORT — Beverly G. Reynolds of Durham passed away on Wednesday, March 8, at the Freeport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Freeport.

She was born in Winslow on Sept. 15, 1929, the daughter of William and Anocia (Huard) Glidden. She graduated from Winslow High School, in the Class of 1947.

Beverly was an accomplished pianist and at age 16 and did the summer circuit with the Rev. Benjamin Bubar at several churches throughout the area. She continued as a church organist throughout her life. In 1949, she married H. Richard Austin. They raised three daughters, Wauline, Kathleen and Sandra. She became a widow in 1970, and married Robert O. Reynolds in 1976.

Beverly worked full time all her life as a secretary, and the job she enjoyed the most was as secretary to the president of the Alumni Association at Bowdoin College. She worked there for 23 years until her retirement at age 75.

Beverly was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was grandmother to nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful window boxes from spring to fall. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert; sisters, Patricia and Marlene; her parents; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Wauline Quick of Springfield, Ill., Kathleen Begin (Paul) of Winslow, and Sandra Dugal (Jerry) of Durham; her sister, Shirley Witham (Charles) of Winslow; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks of appreciation to Jeremy and Shelly Dugal who lived with “Gram” for over 10 years after Bob’s death, and cared for Gram when her health began to decline. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Freeport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially Heather, for loving, laughing and hugging Beverly through the end.
