History Barn open house

NEW GLOUCESTER — The next monthly New Gloucester History Barn open house will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 1, at 383 Intervale Road, Route 231, behind the town hall.

The open house is free and open to the public. Recent acquisitions highlighting local history will be featured. 

Auburn Art Club to meet

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church.

The speaker for this meeting will be Charles Plummer, former Auburn school principal, noted author and lecturer. Plummer will speak on Civil War history as reflected in the literary art of poetry.

Hostesses for this meeting are Jill Jones, Lorraine Desjardin, Genevieve Dussault, Dorothy Murray, Melanie Ness and Rachel Robinov.

Members are reminded to bring payment for the May annual meeting and banquet to be held on Tuesday, May 2, at Rolandeaus. The cost of the meal will be $15.25.

Bridge club lists winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on March 6 were, first place, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; second, Rosemarie Goodwin and George Dumas; and, third, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell.

Winners on March 13 were, first, Tom Goodwin and Paul Sherman; second, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; and, third, Paul Clement and Roger Labbe.

Winners on March 20 were, first, Rosemarie Goodwin and George Dumas; second, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; third, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; and, first in B, Paul Clement and Roger Labbe.

Winners on March 21 were, first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second Rosemarie Goodwin and Misha Tomic; and, third, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman.

Games are played at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.
