AUBURN — Elaine “Bo” McDonough, 87, formerly of Auburn, died on Friday, March 24, at the Clover Manor in Auburn.

Born in Greenville on May 22, 1929, she was the daughter of James and Elizabeth White Aucoin. A graduate of Greenville High School, Class of ’47, she received her teacher’s certification from Maine State Teachers College in 1951. On July 3, 1954, she married the love of her life, James M. McDonough, in Greenville. They made their home in Auburn, and she went to work as a teacher in Auburn Schools, retiring in 1990 after 31 years.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crafts, especially cross stitching. Elaine loved making gifts for family and friends.

A member of Sacred Heart Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, she is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James of Auburn; a daughter, Patricia Penley and husband, William; three sons, Timothy and wife, Claire, Mark and wife, Sue, and Robert and wife, Linda; two sisters, Geneva Ainaire and Theresa Davis; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Rita Johnson, and a brother, Raymond Aucoin.
