AUBURN — Ernestine Sleeper, at the remarkable age of 107, passed away peacefully on March 31, after enjoying over three years of wonderfully dedicated care at The Clover Manor in Auburn.

She was born Oct. 24, 1909, the oldest of four siblings to Walter and Mary Coffin in Boothbay. This began her lifelong love of the ocean and her hardworking way of life. She worked in several shoe shops throughout her life, but was always happiest outside. After retirement, she enjoyed running a greenhouse which she built herself; and watching the flowers and vegetables grow in her majestic gardens. She enjoyed her time at her camp near her family on the ocean, where she loved to go clamming.

Some of her favorite adventures were taking day trips with her family members. Many hours of enjoyment were spent watching the birds and other wildlife out her window.

She had lived in the same house in Mechanic Falls for 78 years and she drove a car until she was 98.

Her entire family was very precious to her. She was very proud of each and every one.

She is survived by her children, Helen Boyd, Ralph (Skip), Mary and Helen Sleeper; her nine grandchildren, Lloyd and Debra Boyd Jr., Donald and Mary Boyd, Daniel and Debra Boyd, Barbara Stevens, Jeffrey and Darlene Boyd, Jody and Ronald Griffin, Mark and Sandra Sleeper, Carol and Robert Blake, and Pamela and John Morgan; her 22 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Ralph B. Sleeper; her son, Walter (Pete) Sleep; her sister, Muriel Wallace; and her two brothers, Alfred and Dick Coffin.

Online condolences and memories may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
