GREENE — Richard E. Becvar, 63, of Greene died Monday, April 3, at his residence with his loving family by his side following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on March 9, 1954, the son of the late Vernon W. and Nadine (Fish) Becvar and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.

He was a graduate of Colonie High School in New York in the Class of 1972.

He was a retired staff sergeant with the U.S. Army, having served in the Desert Storm.

Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox. Family was a great part of Richard’s life.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine M. (King) Becvar, whom he married on May 26, 1973, of Greene; a daughter, Tonya Robert and her husband, Rodney, of Greene; two grandchildren, Samantha Kesaris of New York and Klayton Kesaris of Auburn; four brothers, Raymond, James, Dana and Kevin Becvar; three sisters, Juanita Bradstreet, Sherry Donovan and Belinda Becvar; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Aron Becvar, who died May 8, 1998.
