NEWRY — An Andover woman is organizing a fundraiser in June for a scholarship program for The Eddy School, a nonprofit independent middle school at 8 Bear River Road.
“The scholarship program exists to help children who want to go to The Eddy School but have lesser income,” fundraiser Melanie Nordwall said. “It helps them find the means to attend, if that’s what they want.”
She said the school does some in-house financial aid for students, but funds for the scholarship program are mostly generated by donations.
The school “doesn’t ask the parents to fund-raise or donate,” she said. “I enjoy doing fundraisers. I try to do a few every year to help out the community.”
The scholarship benefit is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. Independent consultants with Lularoe, a women and girls’ clothing line, will sell clothes and other products.
“The consultants agreed that 10 percent of what they sell will go to the fundraiser scholarship, and Lularoe agreed to match whatever the consultants raise,” Nordwall said.
