Lunch program to celebrate 25 years

NORWAY — Oxford Hills Area Association of Churches has served the Norway Community Free Lunch Program since 1992. In 2016, it served 4,523 meals for a cost of $1,279 or 14 cents per person, thanks to the help of local business, including the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

A celebration of 25 years serving the Oxford Hills will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the Universalist Church, 479 Main St.

The nutritious lunches are served at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Universalist Church. Anyone can eat, no questions asked.

Socrates Cafe to meet

BRIDGTON — Socrates Cafe will meets Monday, May 1, at the Bridgton Community Center.

The evening will start at 6:15 p.m. with a meet and greet. The discussion will go from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This meet’s topic of discussion “The Role of Memory In Our Lives,” which will be moderated by Ted Gerber.

Pleasant Pond Cemetery Association meeting

SUMNER — Pleasant Pond Cemetery Association of Sumner will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the Universalist Church vestry.

SeniorsPlus caregiver support group 

FARMINGTON — SeniorsPlus will start Caregiver Support Group at its new office from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on the first Monday of the month at 218 Fairbanks Road.

Donations needed for benefit auction

AVON — A potluck lunch and live auction on Saturday, May 6, at the Avon Town House will benefit resident Marie Pillsbury.

Lunch will be at 1 p.m. with the auction to follow at 2 p.m. Tom Saviello will call.

Pillsbury had a complete knee replacement late in 2016, and was recovering nicely when she broke her other leg recently. The proceeds from this event will help her with home modifications and medical needs as she works toward recovery.

Auction items are needed and can be dropped off at the Mt. Blue Standard Water District office at 11 Main St. in Phillips between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
