AUBURN — Caroline Gastonguay scored her 100th career goal in the St. Dom’s girls’ lacrosse team’s 24-5 victory over North Yarmouth Academy on Friday.

Gastonguay, a junior, scored nine goals to lead the Saints’ onslaught. Kristina Cornelio and Avery Lutrzykowski contributed five goals apiece for St. Dom’s (2-2). Mia-Angelina Leslie and Emma Theriault each scored twice, and Addie Suckow had one goal.

In goal for the Saints, Abby Slonina faced nine shots and four saves, while Simone Long stopped both shots she faced.

Baseball

Dirigo 6, Telstar 5, 5 innings

DIXFIELD — Dirigo jumped out to an early lead and held onto for a 6-5 victory after Telstar in baseball action Friday.

The Rebels had a five-run top of the fifth to cut the Cougars’ lead to one run. Tyler Hill had a two-run double for the Rebels (1-5) in the inning.

The game became official after the top of the fifth because of the rain.

Dirigo’s Mason Corriveau ended the contest with a nice diving catch at first base when Telstar had runners at second and third.

The Cougars’ (3-5) big inning came in the bottom of third when Quentin Penley’s RBI double highlighted a four-run inning.

Softball

Telstar 23, Dirigo 13

DIXFIELD — Hannah Evans had a double in the nine-run sixth inning for Telstar in its 23-13 softball win over Dirigo on Friday.

Anita Bartlett and Josie Forbes each had two hits for the Rebels (4-1).

Maddie Degroot drove in three Cougars with a double in the second, and Gabby White had a RBI triple in the first for Dirigo (1-4). 

Lewiston 5, Mt. Blue 1

LEWISTON — Danielle Cyr struck out nine batters as Lewiston beat Mt. Blue in a softball game Friday that was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to rain.

Cyr pitched all six innings for the Blue Devils, who improve to 5-2. Jordan Mynahan had had a double and a single to lead Lewiston’s offense, which scored three runs in the third and two more in the fifth.

Kasadie Barker had two hits for the Cougars.
