DIXFIELD — The annual town meeting warrant made available Monday at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting includes several action items to be decided by citizens June 1.

Town Manager Carlo Puiia said the first 12 articles include items that the town must have, including debt service, liability insurance, General Assistance, the ambulance service contract and public health and safety (hydrant rentals and streetlights).

Another article to be decided asks voters to adopt a department budget for fiscal year 2018 that if it fails to pass by referendum vote will be the same amount raised and appropriated for the prior fiscal year unless the Board of Selectmen chooses to present a modified budget in a subsequent referendum. The budget will be that amount until a modified budget passes or the board chooses to call for a special town meeting to present and vote on a modified budget.

Town meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Dirigo High School Community Room.

Articles 13-29 will be decided at the annual election meeting, held Tuesday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion, or by absentee ballot from the Town Office until June 8.

• Selectmen approved the River Lane waterline project. Water District Superintendent Jim White said there has been a break in that line before and he is concerned about a future break on Main Street. The project, near the American Legion, will begin next week. White will rent the town’s excavator for the project.

• The board voted 3-1 to appoint alternate Don Lutick to fill a vacancy on the Planning Board. Selectmen then voted 3-1 to appoint Susan Holmes as an alternate on the Planning Board.

• Selectmen are seeking nominations for the Citizen of the Year and the town report dedication. The Citizen of the Year must be actively involved in community affairs, exhibit genuine concern for the community and its citizens, and be a Dixfield resident. The board will vote on nominations at its next meeting May 22 at 5:30 p.m. downstairs in Ludden Memorial Library.
