Museum L-A’s big event
is free chance to explore
LEWISTON — Explore, make, create, learn, discover and be inspired to be innovative at Museum L-A’s premier event, The Maine Innovation Expo, Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 35 Canal St. There is no admission charge.
All spaces for exhibitors and student participants are filled to capacity for Saturday’s Maine Innovation Expo and what a lineup of innovation and creativity.
The Expo will not only provide a platform for connecting generations and inspiring young people to explore innovative careers that will strengthen the community but it is also where business innovation connects with student innovation.
How much of a variety can visitors expect? How about coming to build a boat and make sure it floats with the Landing School of Boat Building and Design. Learn about mathematical image processing with Bates College. Hear and see future broadcasters on assignment with Oxford Hills Middle School News Quest. Ever play a piano with a banana? If not, come meet with Alternative Manufacturing Inc. Prefer Art, view projection art connected to music with artist Kate Katomski. Build and fly with the Maine Drones Society. Meet the nonprofit, Healthy Homeworks and build a bed through their Earn-a-Bed program. North Woods Stainless Steel fabrication will show how its invention has advanced maple sugaring.
Of historical significance, see the art of locally handcrafted premium leather shoes with Rancourt & Company Shoecrafters.
Meet Vex, Lego, Wonder Dash and Dot and participate in a “CSI murder scene” with the Lewiston School System.
Don’t Panic Consulting, the human patient simulator from Life Flight Foundation, bike-part art, shadow puppetry, 3-D printing with Auburn Public Library and J Dostie Jeweler, and more are available at the show.
For entertainment, AudioBody is back by popular demand and new is shadow puppetry.
Peter Roberts from OriginUSA who decided to bring his manufacturing back to America from Pakistan five years ago, is the entrepreneurial and motivational speaker.
Food for purchase will be provided by New England’s Only Authentic Alabama-Style BBQ.
