Mechanic Falls Historical Society meeting

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, 64 Elm St.

There will be discussion on the state of the church building, involving an application to the National Register of Historic Places. Other agenda items will include Mechanic Falls Community Day Celebration where the Society and church members plan to hold a fund raising yard sale and a quilt show on the premises.

Moxie parade registration open

LISBON — The Moxie Committee is registration for the Moxie Festival Parade on July 8.

In keeping with the mood of the festival, parade units must represent Moxie in some way. It could be as simple as flying flags or banners in Moxie orange, wearing Moxie colors or representing the festival theme, “Moxie Salutes the Red, White and Blue,” saluting all active military, veterans and first responders.

Registration deadline for parade enrollment is Friday, June 30.

Bridge club lists results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on May 1 were, first place, Jan and Vern Arey; second and first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; third, Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; fourth, Donna Bartlett and Rosemarie Goodwin; and second in B, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier.

Winners on May 2 were, first, Sharron Hinckley and Fred Letourneau; second, Paul Sherman and Mike True; third, Merry and Mike Quinn; and first in B, Kathy Burden and Sue Kaluzynski.

Winners of the quarterly club championship on May 8 were, first, Les Buzzell and Mike Quinn; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third and first in B and C, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; fourth and second in B and C, Ellie and George Wigton; and third in B, Norma and Rick Verrill.

Winners on May 9 were, first, Les Buzzell and Paul Clement; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; first in B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer.

Games are played at 9 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed, and all bridge players are welcome.
